Oh do I have a gorgeous wedding to share with you today! While I was planning my visit to Charleston, SC to shoot a couple AirBnB properties, our dear friends Jenny and Clay found out Sev and I were going to be there around the same time they were throwing together an intimate, last-minute wedding celebration. What an amazing coincidence!?! Due to the declining health of the groom’s father, the couple wanted to get married in a relatively quick fashion rather than wait for their destination wedding in Greece in 2021 (their original plans from May 2020 were sadly postponed. F#@% covid.) They enlisted a team of friends to help them plan an entire wedding on Halloween in just over 2 weeks! Sev and I were thrilled to be there to document the day as the photo video team. (plus it gave us an excuse the stay through the weekend in Chuck-town. Okaaaayyyy!)
Located right on the marsh at a friend’s house on John’s Island, the property couldn’t be more perfect for a backyard wedding. While I love photographing in the mountains in my home state of Colorado, there’s something about a change of scenery that really gets my creativity going. The old charm of Charleston, the waterfront, and of course the Spanish moss made for some amazing backdrops. A full Halloween moon to end the night didn’t hurt either.
This wedding was beautiful in so many ways. Not only are Jenny and Clay gorgeous and photogenic (I literally could have photographed them all day…we had so much fun), but because of the intimate nature of the wedding and the reasoning behind it it was so lovely and heartfelt. And although it was planned quickly, it couldn’t have been more perfect…especially the date as the pair had met on Halloween at a party exactly 7 years before.
