Jess & Nick….oh where to even begin with these two! They are part of a special group of friends who have been clients of mine for several, several years, dating almost all the way back to my first years as a wedding photographer in Denver. Jess & Nick are the last couple in this group to tie the knot and after years of seeing them at my other client’s weddings, they gave me the honor of documenting their special day last September. They are so fun and full of life and I know big things are coming their way (including a baby due this summer….wooohoo!) On their wedding day, we had a blast walking around downtown before heading to Mile High Station, near the Broncos stadium. Their sweet ceremony was followed up by an epic reception with one of the rowdiest, most fun-filled dance parties I’ve ever been a witness to (I guess when the couple opts for a ceremonial tequila shot in lieu of cutting the cake it really sets the tone for the evening.) I think this reception would have lasted all night if it weren’t for the sparkler exit at the end to finally pull people away from the dance floor.
This friend group in particular is so special to me. I’ve been fortunate enough to photograph not just their weddings and engagements, but their new babies, holiday photos, career successes, extended families, and gorgeous new homes. I’ve gotten to know them and their families so well over the years they feel more like friends than clients ☺️ I always say I have the best clients a photographer could ask for and each year that becomes more and more true. One of the biggest compliments I receive as a photographer is a referral from previous clients and this past fall was full of referrals from (and oh so fun reunions with!) 6 of my past couples, which I am oh so proud of.
Though I’ve been to several events here, it was my first time photographing a wedding at Mile High Station in downtown Denver and hopefully it won’t be the last! I actually looked at this venue for my own wedding a few years ago before we decided to go the Vegas route, but it is one of my favorite places to get married in Denver in my opinion. I love the gorgeous indoor ceremony site and the balcony above the reception area is perfect for capturing epic dance parties and stunning shots of the couple posing by the chandeliers.
